Created diverse interactive learning elements for Playmaker University and organizational training programs using Articulate Storyline. Developed scenario-based learning activities, game mechanics, digital assessments, and multimedia content that reinforced key concepts and provided learners with opportunities to practice applying new knowledge in engaging formats.

These interactive elements were integrated throughout the curriculum to enhance learner engagement and provide varied instructional approaches. Each element was designed to support specific learning objectives through hands-on activities, including branching scenarios, gamified knowledge checks, and interactive assessment tools.

Scenario-Based Learning

Ms. Joy Scenarios (2)

An interactive practice activity where learners identify appropriate related consequence responses to children’s behavior. Learners select responses and receive immediate feedback with explanations for why choices are effective or ineffective, earning points for correct applications.

Playful Guidance

Reflective practice activity where educators select their age group and engage with realistic crisis scenarios. Learners apply a trauma-informed framework to develop their response approach, then compare their thinking with an experienced educator’s example to deepen understanding and build confidence in using the strategies.

Game-Based Learning

Game Show-Style Knowledge Reinforcement (5 versions)

Game-based learning activities adapted from an existing template and customized for Playmaker content. Rebranded visual design for organizational consistency and developed questions with tailored feedback responses for different program modules, creating engaging knowledge reinforcement using a familiar game show format.

Optimism Board Game

An interactive board game in which learners move through spaces, answering true/false questions about concepts of optimism. Provides immediate feedback on responses while creating an engaging, game-based approach to learning foundational content.

Toxic Stress Board Game

Board game-style learning activity focusing on adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and toxic stress. Learners progress through the board answering multiple-choice questions, reinforcing understanding of trauma-informed concepts through interactive gameplay.

Interactive Assessments

Digital Assessment Conversion

Converted validated research instruments (Maslach Burnout Inventory) from traditional paper formats into interactive Storyline assessments with visual scale interfaces. Created user-friendly digital versions allowing learners to complete assessments seamlessly within the learning platform, with automated feedback provided for self-reflection.

Relationship Reflection Tool

An interactive activity in which educators select a child they work with and respond to reflective prompts about that child. Designed to help educators build stronger connections with children they find challenging by guiding them through deeper reflection to understand the child and their motivations better.

Interactive Worksheets

Transformed static PDF worksheets into fillable interactive templates that learners can complete digitally, then download and print for ongoing use:

  • Playmaker Care Worksheet: Self-care planning tool for educators
  • Goodification Worksheet: Application guide for implementing playful practices

These digital versions enhanced accessibility and integration within the learning experience while maintaining the utility of print resources.

Multimedia Content

Admiral Stockdale

Educational video telling the story of Admiral Stockdale, one of the highest-ranking naval officers held prisoner during the Vietnam War, and how realistic optimism helped him survive eight years of captivity. Illustrates the Stockdale Paradox (confronting brutal facts while maintaining faith you will prevail) to demonstrate that optimism isn’t about blind positivity but rather balancing realism with hope. Created using narration, images, and animations in Articulate Storyline and iMovie.

The Science of Joy

Video exploring the neuroscience and psychology behind joy, using visual storytelling to make complex scientific concepts accessible and relevant to educators’ work with children.

What is Burnout

Educational video introducing the concept of burnout as defined by the World Health Organization and the work of Dr. Christina Maslach and Dr. Herbert Freudenberger. Explains the three dimensions of burnout (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, decreased personal accomplishment) using visual storytelling to help educators recognize symptoms and understand the occupational phenomenon. This initial video established the format and approach that informed subsequent multimedia development across the program.
